Teaching style I teach the same way I learn. I'm a hands-on person. I learn by doing! When people say, "you make it so simple", I consider this the highest of compliments. If your preference is wanting a lot of technical information, terms and theoretical applications then you've come to the wrong place. Here's a good example; a few years ago I was at a Christmas party. One of the people there was a metallurgist who asked me about brazing and how I brazed and then quickly informed me that I was doing it all wrong. I didn't bother to defend my methods since they had been working for me all these years. About a week later he called and wanted to visit my shop, hoping that I would show him how to braze. This man knew far more about metals than I will ever know, but he didn't know how to apply his knowledge when it came to brazing. It took about an hour and he was putting down some good brazes. He just needed a little practical help to go along with his theoretical knowledge. Just so we are on the same page, my goal is for you to have finished saleable pieces of metal sculpture. This is the reason that I work step by step to get to a finished sculpture. Other than the more generalized videos, on brazing, getting started and finishing the videos each zero in on one type of sculpture from beginning to end. The skills I teach are cumulative; meaning that what you learn in the golf sculpture video will help when you are doing cattails, butterflies or a sculpture of your own design. I want you to be successful! If you have a question or if the way I've demonstrated something is not clear, I want to hear from you. When I describe a technique or a give a reason that I'm doing something a certain way you may interpret it differently. I answer emails everyday from people who have questions, so don't hesitate to contact me. I want this to be as rewarding an experience as it has been for me. ggoehl@sbcglobal.net
