Cut Nails 101

Once I found out how about the reassurance of cut nails sculpture I picked up a few pound of cut nails at the local hardware.

It's been years since I've worked with cut nails and I'd forgotten just how much fun it is.  The designs in this video go from very simple to some that are more complex.

The fun is in laying out designs.  By moving the cut nails around on your welding table you can come up with all kinds of designs.

For the cut nails I've used either brazing or gas welding.

In this video the primary materials are the cut nails.  In a couple of pieces I've used some copper and some RG 45.

Locally I've been able to find two sizes of cut nails.  Shown in the video is a catalog that offers different types and sizes of cut nails.

This video will get you moving.  Once you have the first few pieces done you'll quickly see the possibilities for other designs.

Personally I can't wait to start working on new designs.

There's not much more to say, it's just a matter of getting some cut nails and getting started.

Oh, and there is a nifty new hook I've come up with.

If you're in for a bit of nostalgia, come along and we'll re-visit the 1950's and 60's.

 Running time:  60 minutes.
