The Bicycle Series
Since 1984 bicycle sculptures have been a large part of my income.
Exhibiting at large bicycle rallies, bike rides, through my web site on
the internet and wholesaling to gift, cycling and specialty shops.
If you're a cyclist that attends bicycle rallies and large bike rides,
or a bike shop who is looking for some extra work during the winter, you'll find a ready audience.
On the other hand, over a third of the bicycles I've sold have been
purchased by non-cyclists. Everyone has had a bicycle at some time
in their life so there's the nostalgia factor. Also, many
customers have purchased the bicycles as a gift for a friend who is a
cyclist.
For me, it's been a Win Win opportunity! Plus, cyclist are
some of the nicest people I've ever met!
The Small Table Top Bicycles

The Small Table Top Bikes are used as stand alone
pieces or incorporated into wall scenes such as the “Sit & Sip”, “Ride in
the Park” and the “Day in the Country”.
The first bikes were used to go on the “Day in the
Country”, and then someone asked if they could just buy the bike. So I
started making single bikes with kick stands. Later a customer wanted a
rack to go with the bike, so I started making bike racks. Which next led
to a request for a tandem.
Then a young lady wanted a girls bike and a boys bike
in a bike rack for their wedding cake. This eventually led to the “Love
Bikes”.
And that’s how it goes. One idea building upon
another.

The American Racer & The Mid Sized Tandem

This American Racer was my first bicycle design back in the late 70's.
The popularity of this bike led me into doing more bicycle sculptures.
Naturally someone wanted a Tandem. These can be done either as a
wall piece or as a table or desk top.

Ride in the Park and Sit & Sip

Exhibiting at a national rally in 1983, a woman was looking at my small
table top bikes and asked, "don't you have something larger for the
wall". That was the beginning of the "Bicycle Wall Sculptures".
These look a bit complicated, but I'll show you how to put these
together in a detailed step by step process.
***Please Note***
You will
need the "Small
Table Top Bicycles"
DVD and the "Trees"
DVD to complete these two pieces.
If you can produce the pieces on this page you will have a good
selection to exhibit - in price and size range.

There is something about the design of the Ordinary (HighWheel) that
makes it very appealing. I've given up trying to figure out why
people like these some much and just make them.
These are a challenge! The first one will take some time to build,
the next two or three will go much more quickly. After that you're on
your way. I generally make these in multiple of two or three at
time.

The Road Bike Part 1 and 2

This Road Bike has me puzzled. It's one of the best
selling pieces that I show on my web site, yet it is the most expensive.
Generally the lower priced pieces will be the fastest movers. The
only answer I have come up with is that people love all the little details
I've built into this bicycle.
Trees, Trees, Trees

This
video shows how to take a simple basic concept and turn it into a
variety of tree sculptures. Tools and materials required are
minimal. If you know how to braze, you'll find these quite easy.
The trees go well with the bicycle wall sculptures, but
there are also the "golden rain" trees that will go well in a formal
setting as large stand alone wall sculptures or as grouping.
