Finishes and Finishing for Metal Sculpture

You have your piece assembled, now it's time to do the finishing touches.  This is the point where you bring your piece to life.

Whether it be simple wire brushing and then applying a clear coating, or using a more involved finishing technique such as flame coloring, adding accent colors, buffing or sand blasting.

Your sculpture is only as good as the final steps of finishing. The finishing process is what set your work off!  It brings out the richness and character of the metals.

Much of the appearance to the viewer is the reflection of light.  Light reflecting off your piece give it depth and vitality.

Throughout this video you'll see the different finishes that I use on the sculptures that I produce.

"This is a great reference DVD.  The way the chapters are laid out in the DVD means that you don't have to go searching, you can go right to the sections you want."

Using some scrap metal, I'll show you how to make a tool so  you can mount your electric drill in a vice.  You'll have both hands free to wire brush or for buffing.

Who can best use this video?  If you are ordering the "Brazing with the Oxygen Torch" and "Getting Started with Metal Sculpture" - and want to do your own designs, this video will be a big help in working through the final steps to bring your sculpture to a gallery like finish.

This video shows all the finishing techniques I use in my work.
