Steel Sculpture #2

Steel Sculpture #2 is a continuation of Steel sculpture #1.  It picks up where #1 left off.  This video primarily focuses on wall sculptures.

Starting off with a very simple design that can be expanded into a number of distinctive wall hangings.

triangular layered sculpture

We'll begin by laying out the triangles.

Once the layout is complete, it is on to cutting out the triangles from 1/8th inch mild steel. You'll be referring to Steel Sculpture #1 for ways to cut the 1/8th inch mild steel.

For the initial assembly, in this case we'll be using bolts and nuts.  Layering the triangles so that there is a feeling of depth.

These sculptures end with a ground or sanded finish.  So  grinding and sanding involved using a disc grinder.

Included are some alternative design ideas.

Another very simple design! This design also refers to Steel Sculpture #1

Cutting out our geometric shapes leaves us with some scrap pieces of 1/8th inch mild steel.  I've added two designs which will get you started on some table pieces using up your scrap..

This video, like steel Sculpture #1 is about techniques.  The designs in this video are impressive, but more important than the designs are the techniques.  The techniques included in the video will open up the windows of your mind for your own designs.
